Everyone has a right to a liveable wage, safe, sanitary, and humane working conditions regardless of immigration status, race, language, gender, or area of work. We must protect the right to unionize and expand union power.
Working conditions are our living conditions - our society is shaped by work. Ambria knows what it’s like to be mistreated by a bad boss simply for engaging in protected union activity. As the elected union representative at her school, she was retaliated against by her principal and by CPS. She knows what it’s like to have to file an Unfair Labor Practice complaint and wait months and months for a resolution.
That’s exactly why she believes every worker deserves a union - to help them fight back against abuses at work like the ones she’s faced. Ambria intends to secure a living wage and expand paid sick leave, and supports increasing good paying, public sector union jobs. We must expand job training programs with partnerships for trade union apprenticeships. We must also expand protections and support for our neighbors who are unable to work, whether that be due to disability, age, or other reasons.
